Senate Tables Hemp Amendment at Center of Funding Fight, Allowing One-Month Delay of Ban
The U.S. Senate voted 61-32 to table an amendment that would have removed a one-month delay of a federal ban on most hemp-derived THC products. The amendment, led by Senator Ted Budd and supported by several other senators, sought to keep the original timeline for the ban. As a result of the vote, the delay remains in place under a stopgap government funding bill. The federal ban was originally scheduled to take effect on November 12, 2026.
