House Lawmakers Introduce Bipartisan Hemp Regulation Bill
Representatives Andy Barr and Angie Craig introduced the bipartisan Lawful Hemp Protection Act, legislation that would establish a federal regulatory framework for hemp-derived products. The proposal would create standards for cultivation, processing, testing, and labeling; prohibit synthetic cannabinoids in finished hemp products; establish a minimum purchase age of 21; and redefine hemp as cannabis containing up to 1% THC by dry weight. The legislation was introduced ahead of a federal hemp THC restriction scheduled to take effect in November.
