Leader Schumer, Sens. Booker, Wyden Reintroduce Legislation To End Federal Ban Of Marijuana
Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer and Senators Cory Booker and Ron Wyden reintroduced the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act (CAOA), legislation that would remove cannabis from the federal Controlled Substances Act and allow states to establish their own cannabis laws. The proposal includes provisions related to cannabis regulation, research, taxation, worker protections, and expungement of certain federal cannabis convictions. The legislation would establish a federal framework for cannabis oversight while maintaining state authority over cannabis policies.
